From early beginnings underneath a small 3-bedroom house in Buderim to the lovely spacious clinic space designed for clinicians and clients equally in mind, SSRG has come a long way. SSRG is now celebrating its 10 year anniversary!
SSRG commenced in 2015 as a multidisciplinary concept with approximately 10 people as a result of demand in the market for a single point of entry to a range of therapy services for adults. During this time a number of allied health entities separately were providing services to a range of programs within the community – TCP/CSRT, HCP and CHSP and DVA and very often supporting the same clients. This led to cumbersome service delivery, difficulties with communication and a range of varying prices and systems.
SSRG was born out of desire to ‘do better’ and bring these services together under one banner to improve:
- Access
- Processes
- Communication
- Clinical support
- Collaborative care
SSRG brought together leading providers in the market and organised the delivery of these services under one brand. This simplified referral pathways, standardised pricing and made reporting communication more streamlined.
From 2015 – 2019, SSRG delivered services strongly in the post acute care, slow stream rehabilitation and post discharge service spaces. In addition to a range of vendor agreements with home care agencies across the Sunshine Coast, SSRG secured a Standing Offer of Agreement with Qhealth and worked closely with the local public hospital system to support the delivery of their Transition Care Program. SSRG looked after 100’s of TCP clients during these years as well as being the long term external provider of therapies for 12 TCP inpatient beds in Nambour.
SSRG became known for its quality care, compassionate approach and expertise in home modifications, assistive technology prescription and re-ablement therapies. SSRG delivered services primarily to clients with neurological, musculoskeletal, cardiac and respiratory conditions as well as chronic conditions and conditions of ageing.
In 2019, the roll out of the NDIS commenced on the Sunshine Coast. This brought significant change for the health sector, with demand for private therapies increasing exponentially as services for younger people with disabilities were moved out of tradition government models. Feeling confident in working with adults, SSRG responded to this demand by developing the clinical skill of the team and establishing the NDIS arm of service. Demand for therapies began slowly but soon reached an exponential level with demand for HR being unprecedented. The SSRG team quickly grew to 60 team members.
In 2020, Covid hit the shores of Australia, this resulted in significant and fast changes for all in the way we worked. The SSRG team quickly packed up and headed home to their home office. Fortunately, health services were considered essential and the team were able to continue with the home visiting that was underway. Online meetings, reels, zoom and having your pets ‘in shot’ became an everyday occurrence! Eventually, team were able to return to the office.
From 2020 – 2025, the SSRG team has worked consistently in the community delivering both Disability and Aged Care services under the various government funded banners.
